LILBURN, Ga. -

Police are searching for a man they said attempt to abduct a 10-year-old girl from a church parking lot in Lilburn.

The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. on June 1 near the First Baptist Church on Main Street. Lilburn police say the man tried to coax the girl into his car.

"The driver, we were told, asked the girl if she wanted to race him, because she was on roller blades," said Lilburn Police Captain Thom Bardugon. "Then said she was very pretty, she looked like she could be a model, and opened his car door and said, ‘Would you like to get in the car?'"

The man drove away after the girl's mother approached, Bardugon said.

A little while later, the victim said she saw the suspect's vehicle at a nearby gas station. The suspect attempted to hide his face from the mother after he was spotted, police said. He then drove off. The mother was able to get a partial license plate number.

The suspect was driving a newer model black or gray Dodge Charger with very shiny rims.

Police have release a sketch of a person of interest in the case. Surveillance footage from the gas station also shows that person of interest.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the Lilburn Police Department at 770-921-2211.

Authorities said they believe this was an isolated incident.
