United Way prepares to take over VITA program

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

The Atlanta Food Bank has a new partner in helping low income families with their taxes. The United Way will now play a major role in the Atlanta Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

The program offers needy families free tax preparation services to ensure they are filing for all tax credits available.

The United Way hopes to advance the program to help even more needy families with their taxes.

The Atlanta Food Bank plans to eventually let United Way take full control over the VITA program by October.
