Atlanta Track Club head resigns to run LA Marathon

ATLANTA (AP) - The executive director of the Atlanta Track Club is stepping down to become the chief executive officer of the ASICS LA Marathon.

The track club said Friday that Tracey Russell plans to stay in Atlanta until after the AJC Peachtree Road Race on July 4.

The popular 10K race is organized by the club, which is considered 1 of the largest running organizations in the U.S. with more than 25 events a year.

Russell has worked at the Atlanta Track Club for the past six years. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports ( ) a search committee will be formed to find her replacement.

Russell will have responsibility for the ASICS LA Marathon and will be tasked with increasing participation, viewership, charitable donations and sponsorships.
