Ethics lawyer says politics is driving case against Karen Handel

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

There are more allegations of political influence affecting investigations at the State Ethics Commission.

The ethics executive director now wants commissioners to reexamine cases against U.S. Senate candidate Karen Handel. Commissioners voted unanimously to resolve those cases five months ago.

Earlier, we told you how a former and a current Ethics Commission staffer said their executive director bragged about taking care of Gov. Nathan Deal's ethics investigation. Deal and the executive director deny those allegations.

There are now more allegations of politics in a case involving Gov. Deal's 2009 gubernatorial opponent.

FOX 5 Senior I-Team reporter Dale Russell has the story.
