Saturday's fireball spotted in 5 states

ATLANTA -

If you blinked, you may have just missed it, but Saturday's "falling star" definitely got a lot of attention across north Georgia.

The fireball apparently started in north Alabama and then moved in north Georgia where it broke apart.

Dozens of FOX 5 viewers captured the fiery streak racing across the sky around 7:30 p.m.

Julian Gray, the curator of Tellus Museum in Cartersville, says a camera on the roof of the facility is part of NASA's southeast network of cameras that is set up to capture such fireballs. He tells FOX 5 News that events like Saturday night's are not uncommon.

Reports poured in on Saturday night's event from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia.

If you captured this or any fireball, email us a picture of it to weather@myfoxatlanta.com. We might even include it in a future story on air or in a gallery like the one we put together on Saturday's event.
