FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -

Police are investigating why a man and woman were kidnapped and assaulted repeatedly early Friday morning.

According to a spokesperson with the Fulton County Police Department, a woman was leaving her home on St. Thomas Court near Fairburn around 4 a.m. to go to work when she was ambushed by several masked individuals.

Police say they were making continued demands as they forced the woman back inside her home. They made her go upstairs and wake the man inside. Both were then tied up and repeated assaulted.

The victims tell police that the masked individuals then forced the couple into the trunk of their car and taken to an apartment in Atlanta.

Police say after being further assaulted, the suspects placed hoods over their heads and placed in the backseat of their car and told not to move.   After they felt it was safe, police say the victims got out of the car and called police for help.

Investigators are still looking into a motive for the attack as well as information on the suspects.

The names of the victims and information on their injuries have not yet been released.
