Police: Woman found along interstate may be hit-and-run victim

Posted: Updated:

Investigators say a woman's body was found along the Interstate 85 access road in DeKalb County on Monday morning, and they believe she may have been the victim of a hit-and-run accident.

The body of 29-year-old Saquena Williams was discovered in the road along Northeast Expressway near Northcrest Road.  Police say she may have been walking northbound along the access road of I-85 when she was hit and knocked into the air.  She landed in between the fence and the concrete barrier, and police say her injuries are consistent with that of someone who has been hit by a car.

Investigators returned to the scene during the noon hour on Monday because a pastor in the area found a tennis shoe that he believes may belong to the woman.

Williams' brother said that he believes Saquena's car had broken down and she was walking for help.

The medical examiner's office will determine the exact cause of death.
