Reward offered in rape, home invasion cases in Athens

ATHENS, Ga. -

Police are searching for three men they say forced their way into two separate homes this past week and assaulted those inside.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department released a sketch of one of the men Sunday evening. They say men were all wearing dark clothing and masks during both incidents.

Police say the first incident happened on Wednesday on Highland Park Drive. They forced a man and woman inside their home. They forced the woman into the bathroom then bound and beat the man all while continuing to ask for money. He suffered facial injuries and burns.

Two days later, police say they were called out to Cole Manor Drive where a woman says three men matching the description of the first incident, forced her into her home around 6 a.m. Unlike the first incident, the woman tells police she was also raped and sodomized at gunpoint.

Two of the suspects were between 5'8" and 5'9". One had light skin with bad acne, dreads or braids, a moustache and small beard of goatee with a muscular build. The other was heavy set with dark skin. The victims say the third suspect was taller than the first two.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

Anyone with further information should call Crime Stoppers at 706-613-3342.
