Church shared food for Thanksgiving meals

ATLANTA -

A northwest Atlanta church is providing the bread of life this Thanksgiving. Collins Memorial United Methodist Church has opened its food pantry to feed 750 people on Thanksgiving Eve.

The Bolton Road church began to distribute food around 9 a.m. and about a half hour later, they were forced to turn people away.

To top off the Thanksgiving feast, desserts will be given away at the church on Thursday morning.  Doors open at 7 a.m.

The church started its food pantry four years ago with 14 people. The weekly giveaway has grown into a much-needed community ministry.
