Meteor Sighting Caught On Tape

Meteor Sighting Caught On Tape

Posted: Updated:

A meteor speeds through the Missouri sky and it was all caught on tape. This amazing video was shot on a dashcam by the Missouri highway patrol Thursday night.

The giant fireball took everyone by surprise. There were no warnings of the meteor and it was pretty low to earth.

One person who saw it says seeing the fireball was a fun surprise.

Howard says: "Like neon green, like a laser-pointer green, like bright green, big ball with a big tail of sparks or whatever flying out behind it, it was neat."

Howard says: "There's so much more up there than there is down here that we all take for granted. You know it's above us every day, every night and we forget it's even there sometimes."

Howard says: "It was a crystal clear sky last night, I think it's supposed to be clear tonight too so if people have the time or the chance, they should take advantage of the rare opportunity."

Experts say meteors are common but are rarely seen unless there are clear skies.
