Atlanta mayor Reed sworn in for 2nd term

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta's mayor is kicking off his second term in office.

Mayor Kasim Reed was scheduled to give an inaugural address after being sworn in at noon Monday along with members of Atlanta's City Council. Voters elected Reed to another four-year term last November.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/1gbcOKI ) Reed's top priority during his second term will be tackling a nearly $1 billion backlog of road projects, pothole repairs and other infrastructure needs. The mayor plans to seek a bond referendum worth up to $250 million, which voters would have to approve in order to fund the project.

An inaugural reception for the public is scheduled to be held at Atlanta City Hall early Monday evening.
