'Odor' from air system disrupts West Forsyth High School

CUMMING, Ga. -

Part of the school day was disrupted Wednesday after a 'strange odor' was emitted from the air system at West Forsyth High School, officials say.

As a precaution, some students were moved to different area of the school while the fire department investigated.

No injuries were reported, and the source of the odor was not immediately identified. The school building was not evacuated.

School officials posted this statement on their Facebook page: "WFHS Parents: A new dehumidifier was installed at WFHS last fall. It was used today for the first time. An odor was detected in the media center, and upon investigation the dehumidifier was found to be the source so it was turned off. Two staff members in the media center were transported by ambulance as a precaution so the school was placed in a medical lockdown. Students and staff are safe, and dismissal will proceed as normal."
