Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Ball raises $3 million

A sea of purple turned into a whole lot of needed green Saturday night as the annual Leukemia Ball in Washington, D.C. raised $3 million for blood cancer research and awareness.

FOX 5 is a big supporter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. General Manager Patrick Paolini serves on the LLS board.

There were many special moments Saturday night.

Redskins legend Bobby Mitchell was presented with a lifetime achievement award for all he has done for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Huey Lewis and the News also performed.
