Strong winds cause trees to fall on roadways; home

Powerful wind gusts have brought down trees across the metro.

Several roadways have been closed due to massive fallen trees and downed power lines.

Hundreds of electric customers have lost power throughout the day, according to Georgia Power online outage maps.

Tuesday afternoon, a large tree fell on a home on Sugar Creek Dr in Marietta, trapping two people.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene.

Wind is also believed to have blown-out windows at a building on Marietta Street and Spring Street. The falling glass closed the roadway below.

Wind gusts are expected to continue to be strong throughout the evening.
