Mt. Zion High placed on lockdown

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - A local high school has been placed on lockdown after losing power on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Clayton County spokesperson, Mt. Zion High was placed on lockdown because students began to walk out of the school after a power interruption and a threat. Officials say a a student passed by a school resource officer claiming to have a gun.

Clayton County police are on the scene assisting with the search. And Clayton County fire will be bringing lighting to the school to assist with the search.

Some classes will be held outside. Clayton County officials say the school is safe. No weapon has been recovered, at this time.
