Arrests made in disappearance 3-year-old Atlanta girl

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA - Police say they have arrested the mother and a man after the disappearance of a little girl prompted a child abduction alert on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department say the search for missing 3-year-old Azaria Grace Iwangou began around 12:30 a.m. Saturday after her mother, Jo Flowers, reported her missing. Flowers told police that her daughter wondered off with a man she barely knew, later identified at Kenneth Beasley, along Donald Lee Howell Parkway near Center Hill Park.

A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department told FOX 5 News that they issued a Levi's Call, Georgia's Amber Alert system, after an investigation into her disappearance revealed the child might be in danger.

Police say a call to Crime Stopper Atlanta led officials to finding the girl safe just after 6 p.m.

Kenneth Beasley was arrested by police and charged with Interference with Custody. Jo Flowers was also arrested and charged with reckless conduct.

The girl's grandmother spoke with FOX 5's Trevor Shirley and said this should be a wake-up for her daughter.

Investigators are still trying to piece together the timeline and where the girl went as well as the relationship between Flowers and Beasley.
